Simply Chickie in Newport, Rhode Island, is a GOTS certified organic baby, kids and adult clothing brand. Last month, Simply Chickie launched its “Love” line of t-shirts. Here, Gwendolyn Gardner, the founder of Simply Chickie, shares the inspiration for the line’s launch.

MSM: How did you come up with the idea for the “Love” line?

GG: The “Earn Your Karma” bamboo tank tops is one of the new tanks in the “love” line at Simply Chickie. I just love the idea of karma – it’s a cool concept that everyone immediately relates to. To me, the idea that there is some sort of justice in the world is empowering. It reminds me that I’m responsible for everything I do, whether good or bad, and that I will be held accountable in some way. That accountability factor is important to me – so important that I teach it to my daughter whenever I can. It reminds me to stay positive in all situations, and to do good at every opportunity.

MSM: Why is the idea of karma important to you?

GG: I draw inspiration from the quote:  “How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours,” by Wayne W. Dyer, an author, philosopher and motivational speaker. In fact, the whole concept of karma is so important to me, I enjoy walking around town wearing this “Love” shirt. I get a lot of comments about it, and it’s led to some very interesting conversations with folks who came to me as strangers and became valued acquaintances – even friends.

MSM: Are there any other quotes on karma you like?

GG: “I want revenge, but I don’t want to screw up my karma,” by author Susane Colasanti.

MSM: What should our readers know about your “Love” line?

GG: The “Earn Your Karma” tank tops are velvety soft and comfy, because they are made from bamboo and organic cotton. Plus, the long body of the top fits well over yoga pants, as well as jeans. The other new designs as part of the “Love” line include “LOVE,” a large red heart, and “Live Love Laugh.”

If you’re looking for super-comfortable organic clothing to wear while working out, doing yoga, just lounging around or sleeping, this new tank top will really fit the bill for you. They are made in the U.S. using GOTS certified bamboo and organic cotton grown without any herbicides and pesticides. In addition, they are available in small, medium, large and extra large sizes for women.
